Im traveling around Costa rica will I need car or just take the bus
Costa Rica has a superb bus system, serving every village there is,Quote:> Im traveling around Costa rica will I need car or just take the bus
Rudi: I rented a car the first trip that I made to Costa Rica, and
never did it again on the other 4 trips. The bus service out of San
Jose will virtually get you any place you want to go. You can always
get a taxi unless of course it is raining. It does get a little
primitive attempting to go to village to village, but if you are not in
a hurry I feel that its the way to go. Bus fares equate to time. If it
takes 2 1/2 hrs it costs $2.50. I rented a car for a week ($300) and
only utilized it for half of the time. I probably could have taken
taxis and saved money. Good luck, Dennis
Rudy,
To travel in Costa Rica you can get a long way by bus. It will take a
bit longer as when you were travvelling by car. The main problem is the
long distance busses only depart a few times a day (Mainly in the
morning) But the bus is veryy cheap.
On the other hand you could rent a car. Those are rather expensive and
depending on the time of year, you will need a 4x4. Prices of a normal
car are about $50/day. If you travel around Christmas time, it can be
hard to find a car to hire. It is not advised to leave your car on the
street at night (Look for a hotel with privat parking).
I only took the bus and was very pleased with it.
Greetings,
Arthur
