by Before I returned the National Rent-a-car car to their Chicago-Ohare
facility, I called National's national 800 number to ask if I should
clean the car to avoid extra charges, as it was rather dusty. Their
800 representative cheerily said "no, don't worry about it, we clean
all the cars anyway". Sure enough $25 was added to my credit card...
National's head office's reply to my protests was that each facility
could decide what it wanted to charge, and I was in violation of the
contract for having driven on gravel roads.
